Here is a short post about our trip to Rydges and the surprise we found there.
Well a few days ago on Saturday we went to the Rydges Homestead to have a picnic. We were quite lucky because a huge flock of magpie geese were staying there at the time.

A few Magpie Geese enjoying the wetlands at the Rydges Homestead.
After lunch we went for the walk to Rydges, then walked along the beach. It was a really nice day for walking, not to hot but not too cold either.

The beach at Rydges. I love the cloud formations, they look like they’re about to unleash a heavy rain storm.
Coming up from the beach, guess what we noticed? Yes you’re right, it was a sign saying that Rydges is closed to outside guests, and that trespassers would be prosecuted! How they hope to enforce this I don’t know, because there is always a multitude of people wandering around the place and it would be very hard to find any outsiders among them.

The sign that is being so unwelcome to visitors.
So if anyone knows any more details about this I would be interested in hearing them. You know who you are ;-).
Jylan,
Thanks for your reply.
All roads north of the five ways are now closed the only place you can still go is fishermans creek, lucky it is a gazzeted road I guess.
Looks to me as if the resort is slapping locals in the face abit.
By the way love your website great photos
Yes Noyzy Rydges is definitely not the same as it was a few years ago. I think there has been a management change and the new management is not as nice to locals as the old.
We’ll have to go for a drive up that way to see what the situation is, might make a post from the info once I’ve got some photos :-). If you like there’s a way to subscribe to new posts via email, the form can be found below each post in the locality views (Yes I had to ask you…).
Glad you like the site and photos, you probably saw my post about the new design. I’ve been getting a lot of good feedback about the site, so it looks like I’ve done something right ;-).
There are also signs and gates to stop people from entering the wetlands now aswell.
Does anyone know anything about that???
Hi Noyzy, I’m Jylan, the owner of YeppoonInfo.com.
Dad and I drove up to Kelly’s Landing (at the back of Corio Bay) a few weeks ago and we noticed those signs too. Originally we were trying to get to Fisherman’s Creek from the Yeppoon-Farnborough Road but there was a big trespasser’s prosecuted sign at Fisherman’s Creek road (although we didn’t realise then that it was) so we went straight past it and ended up going down Kelly’s Landing road.
Along the way to Kelly’s Landing there were a few turnoffs to the wetlands, though as you say they were signed and closed off.
Have you tried accessing the wetlands through Rydges? If you drive up as if you’re going to Corio Bay, but instead turn left in the direction of the Golf Course, that road will lead you to the big intersection with about 5 roads going off in different directions (see the google map).
Please let me know if you’ve tried that :-).

Wow, That sucks man. We always just rock up in our cars, park in their convenient close parking, use their pool and spend money at their bar. In all sanity, I’d kick that sign over discretely.
