Hi Denis,

Thank you for leaving a comment here, but sorry for getting back to you so late. To be honest we haven't been up to the trail for a year or so, so don't know how much the track has degraded. Thanks for those tips on how to find the trail, I'll have to get up there soon some time and see what it's like now.

Did you happen to take any pictures on your most recent walk? Also not sure if you managed to walk the entire trail or not, could you clarify that please? :-).

Cheers, Jylan

Regarding Kanaka Trail
I have been walking the trail since 1978 and am terribly dissapointed in its present state. Volunteers cleared the track in 1976 i think and it was possible to walk the length of the track from below the towers to the bluff. The easiest entry is to enter bush at end of Hughes Street, immediately turn right and follow road to towers, thru second gate, look for two flowering native trees on the right (Red berries) enter bush and Kanaka trail is within 5m
Something must be done soon or this Icon of historical significance will be lost. I have walked the trail at least 10 times but not for several years until 16/5/09. regards Denis

[...] The 2009 Capricorn Resort Half Ironman Triathlon is slowly creeping closer, with a start date of 16th August. The challenge has a new name this year, with the original name being “Rydges Capricorn Half Ironman”. Notice the slight change from Rydges to Capricorn Resort. This is probably part of the suspected resort-wide policy change. [...]
